I was looking over the ABL pages on APBR.org and noticed two discrepancies regarding the following two teams:

- Allentown Aces (1950-51)
- Saratoga Harlem Yankees (1952-53)

Both of these teams are listed under the AMERICAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE [1933-34 TO 1952-53] section on this page:

http://www.apbr.org/leagues.html

However, on the ABL stats page neither of these teams show up under the individual player stats nor the win-loss records:

http://www.apbr.org/abl2552.html

Does anyone know if these are just typos? Or if there just isn't any record of their stats/win-loss records? Much appreciated!

Yet another mystery discrepancy.

For 1938-39, an ABL team from New York has individual player statistics listed on this page:

http://www.apbr.org/ablstats3853.html

However, there is no team from New York in 1938-39 in either of these ABL team lists:

http://www.apbr.org/abl2552.html
http://www.apbr.org/leagues.html

Maybe the New York Yankees listed for 1937-38 is actually for 1938-39? That would seem to make sense since, according to these lists right now, there are 2 New York teams in 1937-38 (Yankees and Original Celtics). Any clarification would be awesome!

Thanks for the clarification!

Just in case anyone doesn't want to follow the link, it appears that the Allentown Aces were also the Carbondale Aces in 1950-51. Similarly, the Saratoga Harlem Yankees were also the Glen Falls-Saratoga team in 1952-53.

The answers were right there in front of me all along.

I'm slowly building my own little database to play around with and I'm finding some small little mysteries (though, so far, they've all been misunderstandings on my part). Forgive me if these are annoying, but here's another:

1951-52 Carbondale Aces

The team exists according to the "LEAGUE MEMBERSHIP [1933-34 TO 1952-53]" section of this page: http://www.apbr.org/abl2552.html

But is not mentioned at all in the league standings further down the page for the 1951-52 season.

It is not listed as being a year according to the (terribly small) Wikipedia page for the team but IS listed as being a year on the Hoopedia ABL page.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbondale_Aces
http://hoopedia.nba.com/index.php?title=ABL_%281925-1955%29

One final wrinkle is I have actual stats (thanks to another APBR member!!!) for the team for this season! So ... it's gotta exist, right?

If so, anyone know either what happened to this team or why it's not showing up in the standings? Many thanks!

Great!

Two questions for you:

1) Is all of this information in your book?

2) What happened in Middletown? I'm assuming they became the Middletown Guards who appear in the 1952-53 ABL season standings. Unfortunately, no Middletown team appears in the 1951-52 ABL season standings ... much like those Carbondale Aces.

Thanks a lot!

most of it is in my book. keep in mind, the standings on the site were compiled a few years ago and we have managed to find some additional information since then.
