Re: Andrew Wiggins or Kevin Love?
I tend to believe that playing with LeBron will make guys like Waiters, Bennett, Wiggins, and Thompson (doubtful he'd be traded) better or at least look better than playing without him. May I know why do you believe in it? Especially regarding Wiggins and Bennett who are both basically rookies? Bec...

Re: Andrew Wiggins or Kevin Love?
I still see the belief that playoffs would somehow provide a different playing level based on "intensity", but in reality the overall skills are much more important. You are also looking into exceptions as the means of your primary argument when in fact such "outliers" can very ...

Re: Andrew Wiggins or Kevin Love?
If Love isn't traded before the season, then revisit this before the trading deadline. The asking price might be lessened and playing with LeBron might make players like Bennett and Dion Waiters better and thus more valuable in a trade. But with lower asking price more teams would make Wolves a goo...

Re: Andrew Wiggins or Kevin Love?
What I sense in your post is the idea that a reduced sample (playoff games) would tell you more about an individual player than the bigger sample of the RS. You somehow suggest that teams would be basically entirely different in terms of overall strength and level of competition in playoff games as...

Re: Andrew Wiggins or Kevin Love?
Bottom line is CLE with Love is a title favorite next year and without him they're probably not good enough yet. Yes they could in a following season when Wiggins and Bennett get better, but there's a lot of landmines that could derail that plan. Lebron's aging not going ideally, Wiggins and Bennet...

Andrew Wiggins or Kevin Love?
While we've got 3 weeks to sit around and wait for this trade to possibly happen, I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are? For those that live under a rock in about 3 weeks Wiggins' 30 day untradeable window will be up and rumor has it the Cavs will be sending him, last year's #1 pick Anthony Benne...

Re: 2014 draft prospect rankings
Thanks. I'll think about those weights for possible questions or comments. At first blush the way the weights change by position makes sense to me in all cases with the possible exception of PPS. Height slightly more important at SF than elsewhere? Is that deliberate or a function of other choices?...

Re: 2014 draft prospect rankings
Your success to failure thing seems to hate high usage guys (who tend to be a bit lower in efficiency) who don't get bunch of assists. I think this may make your overall ratings value lower usage guys a bit too much. Just my thought at first glance. I actually don't include Success to Failure ratio...

Re: 2014 draft prospect rankings
Thanks for the results and write up. I. Take it you don't want to reveal the stat weights? That is the part that draws my greatest interest. I'd prefer to avoid posting my exact formulas but I don't mind sharing more about the weights. The weights aren't all linear so the easiest way to discuss the...

2014 draft prospect rankings
Hi all, I finally finished putting together my prospect rankings for this draft. A brief explanation of my formulas. The base formula is similar to a weighted mean of stats with adjustments for Height, SoS (from Kenpom), years in college, and team performance. I adjust the weights based on position ...

He was 4th overall in this draft on my scales (see original post). The 3 guys that scored ahead of him haven't played yet because of injuries.jbrocato23 wrote:I kinda did. Re: 2013-14 Rookies
It will be interesting to see how this rookie class progresses. Obviously not many big contributors right now but 4 of the top 10 picks haven't touched the court yet in Porter, Burke, Noel (and he won't this year), and McCollum. I'll be interested to see how these guys stack up when they hit the flo...

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospect rankings
Also, I find it very interesting to see you had Chris Evans ranked so high. He doesn't seem to be getting much traction among the "experts" (ESPN doesn't even have a draft profile for him). I really like his game though, he's a guy that played for 3 teams in 4 college seasons and made dra...

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospect rankings
Looks pretty interesting, I'm surprised to see that Shabazz Muhammed was as low as he was, but definitely looks like there is a method behind that claim. I'm wondering if there is a usage rate measure or someway to measure players based on their varying differences in terms of their usage rate. Obv...

Re: 2013 NBA draft prospect rankings
With the draft a few days away I thought it'd be a good time to post my 2013 rankings. I have a base formula for evaluating collegiate players numbers that is tweaked based on position. I've made a few adjustments since last year and have been pretty happy with the results. Previously I was underva...
