Re: Next big trade possibilities
Zach Lowe predicted today that Nic Batum won't be in Charlotte next season, especially if the Hornets keep Kemba Walker. So looks like a prediction that the Hornets will try and make a blockbuster for a "2nd option" for Kemba. Hard to see legitimate partners for that contract though, a lot...

Re: Next big trade possibilities
A Kemba Walker sign and trade will probably happen if the Hornets don't dish out max or near max dollar for him this summer. Kemba went on the Jump in January and said "They know what they need to do" in regards to what Kupchak & management need to do to keep him. Judging from the trad...

Effects of a team's schedule
I had this thought the other day comparing the Pistons' post-ASB schedule to the Hornets' post-ASB schedule: Does finishing the season "strong" with an easy schedule have better effects on team chemistry and player happiness than finishing the season "struggling" with a very diff...

http://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/rockets-still-threat-to-beat-warriors-youve-been-warned-by-west-coach/cnglwewv6ryy1i8zfqw7hhus2 - Interesting article on the Rockets. I'm wondering if they are about to go on a similar run that the 76ers went on to finish off last season. Rockets have a few to...

Re: Hey Coach/GM
There have been substantial changes to the rotation in the past 3 games that are very good. 3 guard lineup usage has decreased, the right small ball units have been played, and in general the bench rotation has been a LOT better. One glaring problem that cannot be ignored however is the starting lin...

Re: improved players 2018-19
For Charlotte pts added is heavily weighed down by Kemba Walker's -50 which if I had to guess is currently being weighed down by bad recently bad RPM and PIPM estimates as a result of a 6 game stretch where the Hornets went 1-5 and played like the worst team in the NBA (-17.0 point differential) wit...

Re: Hey Coach/GM
As far as trades go, one is desperately needed for a legitimate 2nd option. Trading for a role player is not going to do anything. The team already has good role players, it doesn't have a legitimate 2nd option to complement Kemba. Right now it looks like Beal is the only potential option that fits ...

Re: Hey Coach/GM
Well Borrego, you took the opposite approach. Jeremy Lamb made what is likely a premature return from hamstring injury and got inserted into the starting lineup for Devonte' Graham. The recommended starting lineup received 0 minutes, and Biyombo/Graham only shared the floor for 1 minute. Biyombo had...

Re: Hey Coach/GM
Don't want to hijack your thread Crow but felt this would fit better here rather than in the season commentary thread. Hey James Borrego, Cody Zeller is out 4-6 weeks, and Jeremy Lamb is simultaneously injured with a hamstring. You have so far turned to Hernangomez (1 start) and Biyombo (2 starts) i...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary
De'Aaron Fox is 13th/94 by RPM among PGs so far at +1.89, ahead of Westbrook & John Wall. Lonzo is 46th at -1.18, DSJ 67th at -1.87. Fultz 87th at -2.23. Ntilikina 91st at -4.07. Looking like the best PG from the 2017 draft so far. Fox was 80th out of 82 point guards in RPM last season at -4.27....

Re: Defending the Bucks
Good lord, that difference is 3P rate is ridiculous. +14.4 raw on/off is also 2nd on the team only to Giannis' +15.4. Getting him off the court has to be a priority for teams. He's probably on the most valuable contract in the NBA right now.

Defending the Bucks
Seems to me the easiest/best way to play the Bucks is to treat their centers as if they are just sharpshooting wings. Treat Brook Lopez as if he were Kyle Korver. Functionally, they're more similar in style of play than Brook Lopez is with any other NBA center that I can think of. So why stick a tra...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary
Wondering if the Wizards are in win now or rebuild mindset regarding trades. Find it funny how had the Sixers waited a couple weeks, they would've walked away with a more team-friendly trade with Beal rather than with Butler. Hornets should be taking this opportunity seriously, they will not get a b...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary
Miles Bridges preseason shooting is unsustainable and subject to regression, but his shot distribution is perfect. Took 45 shots, 71.1% of them were at the rim or from 3. He shot 65.6% on those 32 shots, 14/18 at the rim, 7/14 from three. 65% of Jayson Tatum's shots last season were at the rim or fr...

Re: Player Box Score Projections
Basketball Reference just put out 2018-19 per-36 minute box score projections. Don't think there's a bank for them though.
