Re: APBR-DraftExpress 2015 NBA Draft Project

Great work guys. Not taking part, though I've noticed Cliff Alexanders DX Rating is inaccurate - Should be 46 not 64 (Is based on most recent version) TJ McConnell listed at 46 in current tables, 63 on current DX. It's probably worth checking these numbers now or, getting Givony/someone at DX to che...

Re: Who is the next James Harden/who would you target?

2nd for Middleton. He seems to have enough all around skill to make a jump, more than Danny Green offensively. I don't think there is anyone on Hardens level on the bench, and there shouldn't be. Maybe look at Shabazz Muhammad, as he's probably behind Wiggins in future planning, though has been shoc...

Re: Parker and Ginobili: future HOF ?

My lazy mans guide to the HOF: Rank by draft class. If players are in the top 3-5 of their class, they're probably solid contenders, unless the year is horrible(2000)

Re: Hinkie/Barzilai You Guys Rock (if this rumor is true...)

I hate this deal. It's a sign that some GM's are going to be smart in the future, which will limit the Spurs ability to steal players. Also, by transitive properties the Wizards have to be the dumbest team ever. The Okafor/Ariza for Lewis trade last year seemed squarely in the Hornets favour because...

Re: 2013 Finals: Heat vs Spurs

Even as a Spurs fan, I can admit that was an incredible series.

It really isn't fair that LeBron is allowed to play in the NBA. He's a different species.

Re: Vote for All-NBA teams

Changed to account for the fact that Parker hasn't done anything of real value over the last month and a half, so slips out of All-NBA. Harden to 1st, Westbrook 2nd. From looking at the votes, LeBron appears to be only on someones second team. I'm guessing that's the missing vote, as I can't imagine...

Re: Vote for 2012-13 MVP

This poll feels like a laugh test for a stats board. Would be more interesting with the 1-5 rankings of official votes, and then create an All NBA team based on Consensus stats systems. I'll go out on a limb and guess LeBron, Durant and Paul would be on the team. 2nd guard(Parker, Westbrook, Harden,...

Re: Luis Scola

With the Spurs dumping him, it was to do with salary, and probably thinking that Splitter would be coming over in 2008. They traded Scola + Jackie Butler for V-Span(Mutually let out of contract) and because of the tax, it saved them about 10 million. Definitely regrettable in light of how well he tu...

Re: Computing fake RAPM for players of the 90s

What data do you have? Just thinking that if you have quarter by quarter totals(Basketball reference seems to have them, just by scanning) you could break down the matchup probabilities into minutes played per quarter by starters, and maybe matchup the general pattern to how teams tend to play start...

Re: Random observations from watching NBA games

From the bits of Houston I've seen, I'd agree that Lin. Harden Asik and Parsons look good. Having Asik screen, and then spacing the corners with the forwards is a good use of spacing, and Donatas and Jones should be fine in that role. I think they should throw money at Millsap to start at PF in the ...

Re: If I had input with the Spurs I would recommend…

From a Spurs Homerism view, the Spurs look good with an actual Centre (Duncan or Splitter) and a floor spacing big(Bonner or Diaw). The other combinations don't work as well, so Blair/Splitter, Blair/Bonner and to a lesser extent, Splitter/Duncan don't work. With Danny Green, while he's been excelle...

Re: Wins Produced?!

I wonder whether the debate would move if people here stated qualifications(Not that it should matter, given the work, but it could overcome the barrier) There's not really any economic analysis in the WP model, it's just stats, especially given the paying of players is simply listed as pay players...

Re: Wins Produced?!

Why are people talking about permutations at all. We don't care what order players are in, and just using that word seems stupid. I get that the sample size is small on some of those lineups, but that's just the fact of people playing together in limited amounts, and player numbers are hardly going ...

Re: "APBRY" Analytics Award?

Shouldn't we be evaluating this in terms of how well a team has done relative to their constraints. Basically, adjust for the picks the team has had, the capspace they could use, some role for attractiveness of market(New York versus Milwaukee matters) and performance relative to expectations that w...
