Re: 2019 playoffs, East round 1

Nets, lose 4-1 with one close loss. Two most used lineups were horrible and atrocious respectively. 5 of the next 8 most used lineups were positive but under-utilized. The pair likely considered the core for the future Russell-Allen was -29 points per 100 possessions. What worked best was LeVert wit...

Re: 2019 playoffs, West round 1

Westbrook, bottom 13% of all players on playoff efg% at .406. Bottom 18% for players with 10 plus shots.

On average over last 20 years only 2 players per year who shot 15 plus shots per playoff game have had lower efg%s.

Re: 2019 playoffs, East round 1

I like Sabonis but he is in the bottom end of playoff only RAPM estimates too.

Re: 2019 playoffs

Harden 22nd. Drummond last. D Russell fourth form last place. SGA, 10th from last. Aaron Gordon, 12th lowest. Steven Adams, bottom 10%. Gobert and K Thompon, bottom 20%. Maintain your commitments and mythology or re-examine them? Yeah they are small sample. Don't simply accept as gospel of course of...

Re: 2019 playoffs, East round 1

Sabonis with the worst Pacers on the court plus minus per 100 possessions before today and another awful plus minus today. Decent boxscore today. Hadn't been shooting well before.

T Young neutral before today and will probably end up around there. No else anywhere close.

Re: 2019 playoffs, East round 1

10 of 11 most used player pairs by Nets are negative. The best pairs involve Dinwiddie LeVert Carroll and Dudley. They are almost exclusively the players in the only positive lineups among the 20 most used. Put all four together and they are the only positive quad in top 9. 5 of the most used 6 quad...

Re: 2019 playoffs, East round 1

Atkinson spun thru 66 lineups in first 3 games. (Yesterday's game data not yet posted on BRef.) Less than 26% of the selections are positive. But I hear he is a good or great coach. Has used an average of 17 new, not yet used in playoffs lineups every game. Might be acceptable if it worked. It hasn'...

Re: 2019 playoffs

Harden leads on BPM followed by Bledsoe and Curry. Giannis in 8th at only about 60% as strong. (Might affect MVP vote if not already taken.) Irving and PJ Tucker in top 5. Kawhi 30th. Durant 31st right now. Westbrook 33rd. D Russell 86th of 89 minutes qualifers. D Mitchell dead last amongst qualifie...

Re: 2019 playoffs, East round 1

Nets change starting lineup but not quite to what I suggested. I don't think it worked that way.

Re: 2019 playoffs

D Rusell leads everyone on fgas. That is misplay and mismanagement of play. T Young leads on steals. J Grant on blocks. Stephen Curry with a ts% of .818! That is very close to the all-time highest for guys over 50 minutes and 20 shots in playoffs. Use slightly higher qualifications and it is the bes...

Re: 2019 playoffs

Not that it is a huge regular season gap (4 possessions / gm) but Blazers have kept pace at their average vs Thunder. Blazers with the highest rate of shots at the rim but the second worst at finishing them. Warriors with the second lowest rate of shots at rim but best at finishing them. Warriors an...

Re: 2019 playoffs

The only 3 teams with an offensive rating above 110 and a defensive rating below 110 are Bucks, Rockets and Warriors. That is really lenient criteria. Few teams with balance at this point. Sixers, Raptors and Celtics have good net ratings and that could work but the deficiency on one side of the cou...

Re: 2019 playoffs, West round 1

Yeah, Mitchell/Royce/Ingles/Crowder/Gobert was good in regular season. Don't know why not used or used insignificantly (under 3 minutes for sure). A lot of random seeming dink lineups but not their best performing bigger minute regular season lineup. Would be nice if the media was aware and asked.

Re: 2019 playoffs, West round 1

Kanter outplaying Adams? Not sure. Would want to see playoff RAPM. But boxscore and on the court plus minus favor Kanter. Shouldn't be close but Adams may not be maxing out. 1 block in series.
