Re: Doncic

Here are some historic peers: http://bkref.com/tiny/2IT79 Career rates, 3 pt era, Usg>27 and TReb%>6.4 Parameters designed to put Doncic in the middle on Usg% and with at least middling rebounds -- eliminating 12 smaller players in that Usage range. So we see 31 players, 15 with higher Usg and 15 lo...

Re: 2018-19 team win projection contest

sndesai1 actually gets credit for best SAC projection at 29 wins I have his guess at 24, just above avg. And his numbers sum to 41.00 per team. On Caliban's table it has 29, but at this page it shows 24: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iPOzcrhgF-9FCfasdjQs8eKZZg9ZS84NhfIwFv_wPes/edit#gid=10...

Re: Bucks and RPM

Since I was already doing a sort of survey of RPM at the break, I'll share here the correlations between player Min/G and RPM (via ESPN). I sorted by team and by total minutes; then found correlation between MPG and RPM for top 8 players, 9, 10, 11, and 12 (in total min.) for each team. Numbers show...

In theory, and historically, right here.
You can bring any discussion from any site over here for further dissection.

Re: Bucks and RPM

Only about 140 guys are positive, which is to say "above average", in RPM. They total about 45% of NBA minutes this year. That's not quite 5 players per team. Another 45% of NBA minutes are provided by players who are below-avg in RPM but have positive "Wins" added, according to ESPN. These guys hav...

Re: Why is DeMarcus Cousins starting?

So here we have a classic case of a naturally super-high Usage player who has some 15 to 20 points per 48 more impact when playing with low-Usg guys like Livingston/Iguodala/Green than he has with Durant/Curry/Thompson. So he could probably get twice as many shots and points in 24 minutes with 2-4 b...

Why is DeMarcus Cousins starting?

Cousins has started each of his 11 games with the GSW, who are 10-1 with him. In 7 of those 11 games, the Dubs' point differential has been better with DMC on the bench. Using this Lineup Finder page: http://bkref.com/tiny/0Nbv8 we find just 4 lineups of at least 10 minutes that contain Cousins. Swi...

Re: Trivia

Update on Lou Williams: He scored 45 last night, including 15-15 FT. Four players are known to have scored more off the bench. Nick Anderson had 50 in 1993, one of 3 games he didn't start. Mike Dunleavy Sr hit 48 in 1980; Darius Miles got 47 in '05. And Larry Bird had 47 in next-to-last game of the ...

Re: Trivia

Cavs rookie Collin Sexton is 2nd among rookies in minutes played, after only Luka Doncic (Dal). He's played all 56 games and started 46. He's 4th in rookie scoring (14.8), 6th in assists (2.8), 1st in FT% (>60 attempts, .856), 2nd in 3FG% (>50 attempts, .400). Somehow he's hit just 41% inside the ar...

Re: Trivia

This year, Lou Williams (LAC) ranks 8th in FT made, even though he hasn't started a game. With 281 thru 57 team games, he's on pace to get 407 for the season. Most 1-season FT by a player coming off the bench: . non starter yr FT Detlef Schrempf 1991 431 Ricky Pierce 1991 420 Lou Williams 2017 399 J...

Wow, thanks for that. Big difference in what they make available. You were converting from net points to per48, and I was going the opposite way. http://bkref.com/tiny/Tmjcm On the team page, showing only top 20 most used 5-man units, 4-man combos, etc, I could only find a handful that appear in 2 a...
