Until Vantage Sports/SportVU start killing it with some publicly available stats: your eyes.

On RPM and other models..."Pieces, Pieces Everywhere"
http://hardwoodparoxysm.com/2014/04/14/pieces-pieces-everywhere/ I think this is a piece that quite a lot of you will either enjoy (or detest), so I thought I'd pass the link along. I agree with a fair amount of what Ian says, but this chunk of the article in particular sticks out to me: My issue wi...

Re: Rondo's Impact on C's Motion Offense
They are 20th in 3pt shot rate and 28th in 3pt FG%. 3 pt shots and good 3 pt shots are supposed to be a major benefit of the motion offense. Not there so far. But it should be noted that the Celtics have been bottom 7 on 3 pt shot rate since 2009-10. That trend has to be at least partly on manageme...

Re: Value of Drawing Fouls
Even if a player doesn't get to the free throw line with drawn fouls, they deserve to have some credit assigned. Re: 2014 Draft Projection Models
I know most draft models don't look good for McDermott, but sometimes you've got to use your eyes too. If McDermott is on the floor with athletes (which has never happened at Creighton), then his issues on defense will be overcome. Yes, individually he'll still be a problem, yes, he won't get steal...

Re: "Success come from better data, not better analysis" D M
Now that teams have the SportsVU data, it's probably slanted back in the direction towards having the right analysts who can figure out what to do with it. Ditto. Semi off-topic, but it's related: I'd like to see more statistics used for things like this . How does a player perform when they use te...

Re: 2014 Draft Projection Models
No NBA comps if you include steals/block rates - since his are literally lower than anyone that's ever made the NBA, by a long shot. I think some team MIGHT try to get him pt for a while despite some serious defensive limitations (and O limitations in terms of not getting all those post points he d...
