Is that unfortunate for him or for them?

Last year's winner was near the bottom this year. Just saying.

It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it

Re: APBeerMetrics & sunday basketball

Re: Predictions 2014-2015
Looks like I disagree with a lot of rankings as far as the Suns are concerned. People seem to think Frye is good (because of his RPM). I think he's not a difference maker.

Re: Predictions 2014-2015
Can follow it up with a link later, but wanted to get my predictions in before the buzzer. I rounded everything and made records set to 1230, which makes this look a bit more glossy but trades off a little bit of accuracy. Cleveland Cavaliers - 65 LA Clippers - 61 Goldenstate Warriors - 55 Phoenix S...

Re: Is there diminishing returns to RAPM?
I think "if perfectly healthy" / those mins are guaranteed, 65 wins really isn't a bad line. That said, there is no way that team maintains perfect health. I suppose there's a reason to predict the most optimistic projection possible, but I'd rather just aim for the best prediction, period... Which ...

Can you please contain these posts to your thread? It's spamming the forum with random links - if you wanted to discuss it, by all means discuss it, but just making a new thread with a link is bothersome. Maybe others disagree.

Re: Paul George and the folly of NBA stars playing for USA g
I guess PG was feeling competitive to want to block the shot. At some point, it must become actual competition. Would these games be better if anyone but the US had a chance to win? I was half joking about the competitive line - it was a glorified all star game, the fact Paul George tried that hard...

I think you're giving too much credit to that scrimmage by calling it "competitive".Mike G wrote:That injury would not have happened if he were home with his kids, or working out in the gym, or most other places in the world.
It happened playing competitive basketball.

Re: Paul George and the folly of NBA stars playing for USA g
was a pretty brutal injury. hate seeing that stuff, unfortunately caught it live. pretty sure the stanchion was 2 feet closer than nba regulation, which means that was very preventable. pretty sad. that said, i hope this doesn't scare off US players from playing internationally. that injury really c...

Re: mid-range vs. 3s vs. close shots debate by shot defense
This is really good stuff. Thanks for posting. I echo Crow's question. I would have thought coaches would already notice a big enough difference, but then I hear Randy Wittman defending his team's steady diet of 2pt jumpers by saying they're taking open looks, which (to him) means they're "good" sh...
