No public warning to or scolding of EuroLeague teams by Euroleague so far.

"According to Eurohoops sources, Real Madrid has signed the new 10-year agreement with EuroLeague Basketball and is set to become a franchise alongside the league’s other shareholder clubs."

Euroleague approves expansion to 24 teams in 2027-8 and other changes.

Could works on expansion over 6+ months. On jump on it hard.

Would it make a merger / reconciliation harder if they commit to it? Probably But if merger is unlikely, then proceed I guess.

A publication "reports" binding bids near or over $1 billion for London and Paris NBA Europe franchises. Probably true but until it is announced and officially paid there is room for it to not happen.

London and Paris are the easiest part, if anything is easy.

Hard to imagine anything gets finalized without knowing how the overall structure gets set.

Final binding bids due by Monday, supposedly.

Would think 6 franchise sales is probably minimum start. Where are the next 4? Rome? Istanbul?

"... according to Mundo Deportivo, no EuroLeague club has submitted a bid to take part in the ambitious [NBA Europe] project."

"Perhaps an even bigger blow for NBA Europe, the Spanish outlet reports, is that not a single football club has done so either."

NBA Europe financial model:

Give us lots of money and we'll give part of it back, for awhile. Assuming the league generates projected media & partnership deals, none of which is in hand, we might get to net revenue within a decade. If / when things get good, we'll take 50% of league level revenues forever.

NBA indicating it got the bid prices they called for, with "clear front runners".

Sportico says: "Bids were made by more than 20 existing basketball and soccer clubs, including current EuroLeague teams, according to someone familiar with the details." Not yet confirmed or specified. The direct NBA statement as reported did not specify inclusion of EuroLeague team(s).

Is the supposed Euroleague team ASVEL or somebody else?

Headed for NBA Europe vs. Euroleague? Seems more likely than not.

What happens in first few years?

Could teams in same city merge or one buyout the other if there is a later reconciliation? Maybe.

Can't see both thriving long-term at a high level. Surviving at a modest level is possible. One more league in a very fractured market.

Will corporate sponsors flock to NBA Europe? May not want to take sides and piss off Euroleague fans and Europran governments. Anglo corporations probably have less qualms.

Streaming pricing will probably be pretty pivotal. Will NBA Europe go "high" immediately or try to get sign-ups and build pricing over time?

Lots of business decisions.

Want to hear how arena leases go.

At least one source disputes that NBA got its minimum target price in every market. Eventually they'll have to show and actually sign bids. From capable or proven operators with arenas.

"As Eurohoops has reported, the opt-out clause was expected to rise to €100M, and this number may end up to €200M."

Not there yet, I don't think. Like so many things, the detail is not clear or complete.

If NBA Europe and EuroLeague remain apart, will the national leagues make room for new NBA Europe teams? Will they kick Euroleague teams out? Will both be there and play each other?

Could BCL or EuroCup become the lower local league for either group?

More unknowns.

Bueno says Euroleague would continue even if worst case it lost 5 teams.
