Iamma going to start this, don't know if I'll finish...

Back to beginning of BI and go thru with reactions to what I read or re-read. Generally not going to bother with citations or specific quotes, just focusing on reactions. Here goes:

Under-reported topic, player - coach relations? Obviously they generally keep that out of press. But press can observe and try to report on.

Shooting form? Hear lots of talk, know some of the principles but is there a video of agreed upon classic form?

What would qualify for 76ers skipping steps?

Are teams committing less fouls or just getting called for them less?

On average does length on defense against PGs work better than traditional PG defenders?

power of positive thinking key... some places / players sure, but majority??

David Thorpe said Trey Burke had veteran BBIQ. Oh? "Don’t Give Up on Anthony Bennett (from David Thorpe, ESPN)" No, they did, with adequate justification.

Did Steve Clifford change the culture? I guess. Need to do it again? Probably.

"Goldsberry says that "the days of the armchair analyst might be numbered," Yeah probably should be, if the advanced or super-advanced stuff was getting used highly. Is it outside a few teams? So much non super computer analysis that would be to helpful that doesn't seems to be used or to the max yet or close.

from 3 yrs ago "Tyreke Evans Is Getting Away With It" not anymore.

Are these stats correct? https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/f ... efficiency These stats say no http://stats.nba.com/teams/transition/#!?sort=PPP&dir=1 Only half the league more efficient on break than a league average shot of any kind? Something that the hurry up talk does not seem to address. Hurry up if you are good at hurrying up.

https://www.sbnation.com/2014/2/27/5453 ... oach-diary 15 minute daily slot only place where stats were mentioned / presented/ considered???

"2014 First-year GM Ryan McDonough righting the Suns" for a few months...

Popovich: “There are a lot of good shots, but if you can turn that into a great shot, percentages go through the roof. Contested shots are really bad shots." So we need to track location & contest. Usually have to dig for that and may come up empty.

Classic exasperation at NBA rotations: https://www.memphisflyer.com/BeyondtheA ... aintenance

2014 stevens-urges-celtics-take-right-shot which has translated as lots of 3 pointers and average from at rim and at line.

"After a single season in the NBA, Anthony Davis is already beyond comparison." So what happened? in part- 3 pt shots, less offensive rebounding, not a ton of positive change.

3 years later http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/1070 ... n-magazine Issue identified but not solved?

Rookie Watch -- Is Gorgui Dieng the missing piece for Wolves?
by David Thorpe Nope.

3 years in for RPM. When will an NBA GM ever say much about it? What's next?

Jason Kidd, good or bad coach or in the middle?

2014: "Doc Rivers gets universal praise for Clippers leadership"

Steven Adams ceiling?

http://www.espn.com/blog/truehoop/post/ ... thony-walk

6/2014 ” After the Oklahoma City Thunder were eliminated a few weeks ago, you could hear whispers of closing windows and ticking clocks. Another year gone by, another empty season. Is it possible the Thunder were starting to run out of chances? With this much talent, it’s title-or-bust, right?

Fans are fickle, fans are frustrated and, above all, fans are impatient. But the Thunder need to be the opposite.

“What clock? There’s no clock,” Russell Westbrook said at the Thunder’s exit interviews on June 1. “I don’t believe in saying the time is closing.

Positionless basketball? Not so good for some: http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/ ... story.html
and https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/6/25/ ... draft-2014

Lots of stories about folks who became functionally irrelevant fast. Not criticism, just observation.

Caboclo Impresses In NBA Summer League Debut (from Holly MacKenzie, Raptors.com):

” Seated courtside... Amir Johnson aon hand to assess the performance of their team.

“He’s good,” Johnson said. “He’s long, athletic. It’s going to take him a while just to develop and build that strength, but I like what I see so far and he’s going to be a great player.”

On draftee Wiggins He's perhaps a perfect student. However, there are a few aspects of Wiggins' game that will need immediate and continuous improvement for him to become an All-Star... These defensive lapses will be overcome through experience and actual practice and game time. A fair helping of individual video study will also round Wiggins into an elite wing defender, someone who could potentially be Scottie Pippen 2.0. https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/7/16/ ... -cavaliers

Hit or miss task, yes. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2014/07/0 ... ong-shots/
All miss?

http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/news/nb ... lu8vwrqo7b Blame college / NBA coaches, players or both?

” Just about everybody is in agreement that the Mavericks’ play for free-agent forward Chandler Parsons is a bold, smart move."

What to make of Julius Randle. Question in 2014... and now?

"Most of Nurkic's weaknesses right now are between the ears, as he must become a better decision-maker and adopt a more heady approach to the game."

Amateurs at work??? http://heathoops.com/2014/08/los-angele ... in-action/]

"Asking the right questions is a more important basketball analytics skill than manipulating numbers." And when has that ever appeared high on a posted NBA job description? Never to my knowledge.

"I'd expect A. Gordon to eventually resemble Marion the most if I'm projecting his ceiling and a likely, realistic outlook."

Slim Sullinger ready for new season

http://fansided.com/2014/09/16/introduc ... nsistency/ hasn't really caught on.

fall 2014" Lamarcus aldridge-says-he'll-definitely-take-more-threes Lasts for one season.

Can the Spurs’ defense survive without Tiago Splitter?

After just a couple weeks of NBA action with the Utah Jazz, the 19-year-old Australian import [Exum] is proving that he may be more ready than anticipated, while still showing off the sky-high potential that made him this year's No. 5 overall pick in the draft.

2015

Royce Young:

"What the Thunder got in return for Harden clearly doesn't equal the player they gave up (though Steven Adams is a good player, and Mitch McGary has been solid as a rookie), but the overlooked piece they also landed was flexibility. And that flexibility is what enabled Presti to make two different trades this season that have rounded this Thunder roster into their deepest ever. Presti landed Dion Waiters for Lance Thomas and a heavily protected first-round pick, and then got Enes Kanter, D.J. Augustin, Kyle Singler and Steve Novak for a player who wasn't in OKC's long-term plans (Kendrick Perkins) and a player who didn't want to be in its long-term plans (Reggie Jackson)."

Casey knows offense. Turned out to be true, to a point.

NBA,Youth Academy? Mentioned 3yrs ago. And I have not heats anything since.

Assisted efg% 15% higher. Assists I metrics should probably be valued bear there. Are they?

Brad Stevens in Marchs Smart: " In the long run he is a PG." Is he?

Neil Oshley, 2 yrs ago a media darling, now mostly not discussed.

John Henson? Enigma, underutilized or just a journeyman?

Danny Ainge: "I think you build the the draft." Not drafted: IT, Crowder, Horford, Hayward.

Zac Lowe on Horford on Hawks: "a Superstar". Different but...

Everybody talking Hawks, Brad Stevens, K Love

Article after article saying Wiggins has come into his own.

Suns & 76ers improving...

but poor Brent Brown

and what is Ryan McDonough doing with PGs? He is very confident in what they are doing, including Knight.

A Davis is "turning over"... Oh? Barely hear about him now.

Kings beat writer: "George Karl is absolutely the right Coach"

Barkley: "You can't win a championship with a jumpshooting team." Yes you can and now it may be necessary.

https://www.grizzlybearblues.com/2015/4 ... -pretender

"The rise of Jordan Clarkson"... to way below average, hard to trade player / backup?

Ainge on the mountain top, not in a hurry...

Oladipo "emerging". Now emerging on 3rd hopeful team.

Morey and his PFs (dies he know what he wants? are they important?)

Chicago writer: "Mirotic is too good for Bulls"

David Thorpe: To becoming devastating offense force Wiggins just needs adept ballhandling.

Mavs: We like our guys. We're not interested in tanking. (Lots of issues coming in next 2 years.)

Lakers reach new low.

Rockets stumble out of gate. Defense sucks. McHale fired. ( Could some version happen again?)

2016

Stan Van Gundy "finds right culture"... degenerates to "has no answers".

Hennigan: We're disappointed but believe in our players. We'll be active in trade markets. Skiles has been a pleasure to work with.

Bulls looking for identity under Hoiberg...

Celtics work on rotation issues.

Spurs evolve, still dominant.

RPM favors big men. BPM creators. A blend is good.

Bigs either going extinct or evolving.

Why don't we see more small ball from team x, y or z?

LBJ: I'd love to be around Popovich every day.

I might do last season later. Of course it is there for your own reference.
