Royce White's only real effectiveness offensively for now (playmaking/passing) is pretty much nil when he's on the court with a high usage PG like Lin. I guess he can try to offensive rebound Lin's misses.Bobbofitos wrote: Is Lin / Martin / Parsons / White / Asik or whatever they go with going to be a bottom 5-10 starting lineup and how much chance does that have to be top 5-10 in 3-5 years? 0% chance to be a top 5 or 10 lineup ever. Is Royce White really pegged to be the starter? Eesh.
I really like White's unique skillset - kinda like a much better rebounding/bigger/stronger Luke Walton before injuries. I don't know how he'll mature emotionally.
I've seen MUCH worse signings than Lin through the years - but man they gave up some ok to solid young talent recently (Lowry/Dragic/Budinger/etc) in their desperate attempt at Howard. I think Lin was part of that attempt to woo Howard.
I'm a Mavs fan - I'm actually not upset at not landing Deron Williams - because I don't think they'd have a shot at a championship with him (unless Howard came along), so maxing out for a guy that is a definite tier below Paul (and maybe even Rondo/Rose/Westbrook) to squeak into the playoffs every year seems kinda futile. They keep enough cap space - maybe they'll have a shot at a truly worthy max player sometime in the next few years, or luck out with a draft stud (or by some miracle two). Of course, their drafts always suck.
