That Hayward lineup got zero use last night. 28 lineups used. Not this strong one.

So the Celtics started Hayward thru Nov. 17, and Marcus Morris has started since Nov. 23. Their splits as starter/sub:
Code: Select all
Hayw'd G mpg TS% Pts Reb Ast Stl Blk TO ORtg DRtg +/-
Start 16 27 .488 13.5 6.8 3.8 1.6 0.2 1.7 101 104 -0.1
Sub 35 25 .561 15.8 6.3 5.2 1.2 0.5 2.3 111 110 5.9
Morris G mpg TS% Pts Reb Ast Stl Blk TO ORtg DRtg +/-
Start 34 28 .598 19.0 7.3 1.9 0.9 0.5 1.2 117 110 10.5
Sub 17 26 .622 19.3 9.2 1.7 0.7 0.2 2.7 106 106 1.3
Only 2 mpg have been exchanged.
They started 9-9 with MOV = +1.8 , and are 26-12 at +8.6 since.

If Celtics had stayed stubborn about the starting lineup, they'd be far worse off. Still have work to do. Morris' comments make it sound like worse than what the W-L and stats show. Rotation eventually will probably get tighter. That might help or not depending on how definitive the move is and how the players handle it.
Would I have stood pat at deadline? Probably not but change didnt look easy / straightforward. Celtics face some risks with Irving... and Morris and Rozier. Better next season? Not a certainty. There are only 2-3 players I wouldn't trade / would really try to retain. Beyond that everything else would be open to at least considered change.
