You could look at archive of research papers presented at Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. Or the academic sports analytics journals. Or query Google Scholar.
Lots done on many subjects. I've occasionally referenced and perhaps reviewed academic articles in past threads somewhere here. Almost nobody responds and few have probably bothered to read this work. Search: Sloan, SSAC, research, etc.
Could even just query regular google for specific topics. You should do your own research; but if you mention specific topics, maybe you'll get suggestions.
There is a fairly extensive list of some literature links briefly mentioned here fwiw:

Could look for links / referencea in the "Starting Point..." article by Pelton, Kubatko, et. al.
If you dig, it would be easy to find articles to fill dozens or hundreds of hours of reading. I've done that a number of times, but not recently.
Read 10 articles and there will probably by 50-200 references. Follow some to dozens and hundreds more. It can help to know exactly what you want and / or to take leaps and 2 minute looks to decide whether to read closely, skim or skip.
And / or use this link
