I thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of in-game events that are usually forgotten about or untracked by most statistical analysis. I was watching a Heat game and witnessed Lebron blocking a potential And 1. This doesn't show up as a block because there is technically no FGA on the play if I am correct. If so, this block would go completely untracked by most statistical analysis.
I am interested to see if anyone can think of any other events like this that may often go untracked.

Great no-look pass made to a wide open guy down low, guy gets raped going up for an easy dunk and goes to the line, making both free throws. No assist for the passer.

League-wide, there are about 2.67 points scored for every FG made.
The range is from 2.82 (LAL, Okl) down to 2.51 (Orl).
We might assume that points from FT made are "assisted" in the same proportion that FG are.
The extra point from a 3-pt FG is probably more assisted than the average FG, but again let's assume not.
If the Heat get 2.67 points per FG, then can we say their average FG is accompanied by 1.333 * 2 points?
And if so, is each Assist actually yielding 1.333 times as many points as it would if only 2-pt FG were counted?
We could give NBA players credit for these invisible assists by simply multiplying by their team Pts/FG/2 ratio. This would boost everyone's "assists" by 25 to 40 percent (Orl to LAL).
They could also be adjusted by Away/Home Ast/FG ratio -- a factor ranging from .85 (LAC) to 1.06 (Phx, Was) -- as well as for general "assist inflation"; such that the summary adjustment is zeroed out.

Which game was that, and do you remember about when in the game it happened? I'm curious about how quickly and reliabily players get back on defense, and how effectively they contest or deny shooting opportunities.
