Pretty new here, but have a little bit of experience in the video room and with logging and breaking down plays. Looking to expand my knowledge by delving into analytics. Currently reading Dean Oliver's book, but was wondering what are good metrics to measure lineup-based performance/efficiency?

Is it calculated the same way an offensive/defensive rating would be calculated?

Generally, things are broken down by possession. When you have lineup data, you probably have access to possession by possession data as well. Performance is generally judged by points per possession or 100 possessions (100 possessions is used because we generally like to see numbers on a scale of 100 and it's not too far off from the average number of possessions per NBA game): points scored and points allowed.

There are certainly other ways to judge lineups, but that's the most common.
