Hello, just wondering if this data exists? The locations I'm wondering about are those used on NBA.com:
1) Restricted Area
2) In The Paint (Non-RA)
3) Mid-Range
4) Corner 3
5) Above the Break 3
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I've looked at some of this but using different locations and definitions for contested/uncontested (hand up as opposed to no hand up). I don't know if any of this will help:

This is a huge help, thanks. Tremendous research. I'm going to look into the rest of your posts on the blog when I have some free time.
From the second link in particular, I really liked this table of league averages:
Code: Select all
Shot Location contest altered guarded open pressured
a 34.97% 0.00% 44.21% 42.50% 35.20%
b 34.51% 0.00% 39.58% 41.04% 32.36%
c 32.37% 12.50% 35.81% 39.95% 30.35%
d 32.69% 0.00% 39.65% 41.18% 33.51%
e 35.53% 0.00% 38.81% 48.27% 42.22%
*there were only 35 altered 3 point attempts in the sample of data
Could you please expand the table to the rest of the half-court shot zones? The data would be very informative.

Code: Select all
Loc. contest altered guarded open pressured
a .350 .000 .442 .425 .352
b .345 .000 .396 .410 .324
c .324 .125 .358 .400 .304
d .327 .000 .397 .412 .335
e .355 .000 .388 .483 .422
*there were only 35 altered 3 point attempts in the sample of data
Does that look better?
Why, or why not?

Thanks for cleaning it up. a-e are the 3pt shot zones, but there are also locations f-w that complete the half court set.

I was wondering if knarsu3 had a similar table for those locations.
