Right now they have one player who is listed as 20th best PF (Young, likely to be gone soon) on rpm and a half dozen listed around 40-60th best at their positions, some even weaker and more as yet rated young guys. One of the very weakest bases out there. Last in offensive efficiency, 4th worst on defense. Bottom ten on 7 of 8 Factors, bottom 4 on six of them.

Odds that they make playoffs in 2-3 yrs? Too early to say really but I don't think it looks too good, in part because the east may be getting better. Noel and Embid together might work eventually but probably not quickly and it might not be as good as hoped net. Defense should be good but offense could be terrible without much better guards. 12 front court players on roster. 3-6 will hardly ever play or will be traded / dropped in time. 4-5 yrs they should be much better. That may well be the internal timeline. The fans surely will have a tough time waiting that long. What about the owner?

Don't see it unless they made a dramatic turnaround in strategy and went all out in 2015 free agency.

I have questions about the Saric pick because they have to "recruit" him with a team that will most likely be terrible the next two years. Saric is already a guy who unnecessarily delayed his NBA debut 3 seasons (He could've been a 2013 lotto pick and immediate NBA player if had set his ducks in line) so I'd say there's a serious Fran Vasquez risk

It's an interesting situation, as they have a lot of young players and very high roster turnover, with only ~5 returning players from last year who played meaningful minutes (MCW, Young, Wroten, Thompson, Sims). Jason Richardson and Nerlens Noel will come back from injury to join the rotation. Casper Ware, Elliot Williams, Arnett Moultrie, Brandon Davies, Adonis Thomas, and Jarvis Varnado all contributed at some point but could be cut by the season opener.

Because the team is so inexperienced, they will continue to be very bad this upcoming season. Last year, they had a margin-of-"victory" of -10.45 and according to pythagorean expectation should have had only 16 wins. The Sixers somehow outperformed their expected win value by winning 19 games. This season could be worse, even with the addition of Noel and Richardson. These awful seasons will probably dig big holes for Sixers players measured in the future with any sort of long term PM.

The situation in 3 years might be better, that will be year 4 of the rebuild and they should have a very different roster by then. I'm a Sixers fan and I'm okay with the timeline since the cupboard was very bare after the failed Bynum gamble. The Sixers had Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes, Thaddeus Young, Arnett Moultrie, and two 1st round debits. After two offseasons of reconstruction, they now have a few higher upside players to develop. I think ownership is prepared to take the financial hit from the poor ticket office/merchandise revenue, which will be somewhat offset by the lack of expensive player contracts.
