Stephen Curry was also among the most improved from 2013 to 2014; yet he apparently could not be considered for MIP because he'd already improved toward the end of the 2012-13 season.
??
The same 'logic' makes him ineligible this year. OK. Let's see what his tendency has been, month by month.
The

This seasons' rates are inserted chronologically; they aren't included in his 3-year Nov. line.
He seems to improve every month of every year; exceptions being accompanied by notably low minutes, i.e. injury.
April is always his best (short) month, except for FT trips and Reb -- stuff where you might get hurt.

That was last year.
ws/48 up from -.097 to .007
BPM up from -4.9 to -1.2
PER up from 10.7 to 20.1
Quite a range of interpretations for his play; but they all show sharp improvement over his 177 minutes last season.

It's funny Kobe's the second worst player in the whole league according to WP and here I see his name one way or another

The sum of their improvements is 1.45 eWins on top of what they did last year in as many minutes.

Here's a look at the most improved scorers by my metric. Not much overlap, but that is to be expected as I only look at scoring so far (I intend to update it with everything soon). Plus cool graphs.

I'll make the early prediction that Jimmy Butler takes MIP. He leads the league in minutes, and with just 0.7 more mpg than last year, his PPG are up 8.5
With Kobe 'not really' eligible, it's a long list to reach everyone within half of Butler's level of improvement.

The voters will probably focus on Butler, Thompson and Davis. Davis probably gets it. M Gasol will draw some votes.
Who was it that said on twitter that Love was a perfect fit for Cavs?
Most of the downers have 5+ years in league. The ones that don't, seem to have a change in role, team or coach. Has Kemba's role changed by design or just got Lanced?

Among centers and point guards, improvers outnumber downers by quite a bit.

Four of these 20 'improvers' have seen a drop in shooting%, but all are scoring more.
16 of 20 are also up (or unchanged) in Reb; just one has a drop in Ast rate, barely.
Meanwhile, Kevin Love is running away with the other end. He's not shooting badly, just not as often; and his assists are half what they were.
