New - looking for previous work on runs

Hi, I'm new.
I'm interested in studying what happens during scoring runs/streaks in a game. Has this been done? What can I look at?
I saw http://thehothand.blogspot.com/2014/03/ ... tball.html - losing teams are more likely to have 10 point differential runs.
Same kind of analysis found here, behind paywall - http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-college ... n-magazine
What else should I read, what has been done to look at how scoring runs might be different from other play periods?
Thanks!
