Analytics Systems Coordinator (Full Time)
As the Analytics Systems Coordinator, you will work exclusively for the Detroit Pistons Basketball Operations department in the development of basketball analytics data and software solutions. This position will report to the Assistant General Manager – Strategic Planning, and will provide a fast-paced, collaborative environment in which to innovate across all aspects of basketball operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Working closely with basketball operations to design and create new statistical and reporting services.
Maintaining and extending the team’s existing data and analytics infrastructure.
Managing and automating the ingestion of disparate data from a wide range of sources.
Responding to ad-hoc requests from both the basketball operations department and coaching staff.
Collaborating effectively on team projects and work autonomously on individual work as appropriate.
Maintaining high level knowledge of current advanced stats and future trends in NBA analytics.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university, with a focus on programming.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong SQL programming skills; significant preference given to applicants with at least two years of working experience in related programming/analysis field.
Experience testing, building, deploying, and maintaining databases.
Strong programming skills in at least one scripting language.
Working knowledge of at least one compiled language.
Experience conducting analysis on large data sets via statistical forecasting and analysis software is desirable.
Data visualization expertise is an advantage, but not required.
Ability to work long/flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
