Re: Rough early estimate of chances to win this season's til
contenders TO Ratio (per nba.com): HOU (1st) - GSW (4th) - IND (9th) - OKC (11th) What are you calling "TO Ratio"? I'm going to assume you mean TOV% or TO/100 possessions, in which case, I think you meant to say "Worst TO Ratio", because HOU is 30th in TOV% according to basketba...

Re: NBA.com: Stats Video Playlist
I think is a first for an NBA team. We've seen NFL teams doing this for a while now. We know that some positions players and DHs in MLB go to the clubhouse (during home games) between innings to watch their at bats. I've never noticed it on the bench in an NHL game. http://www.blazersedge.com/2013/1...

Thanks for the response.
Maybe it's a coincidence, but I guess we should thank Adam Silver for this access.

NBA.com: Stats Video Playlist
This is pretty cool, I just noticed it for the first time this morning. http://stats.nba.com/statsVideo.html Watch the plays behind every stat in the game. Every Shot. Every Rebound. Every Block. All Season Long! Bring the box scores alive by watching the plays that defined the game. Was a player ho...

side note: The Celtics still have a cap hold for Dana Barros? He appeared in one game in April of 2004: http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200404170IND.html The Jazz have one for Ostertag. The Spurs have holds for Van Exel and Stoudamire. The Lakers have by far the most including Brian Sh...

Re: Early 2013-14 stat-based observations
Roughly 8% of the regular season schedule is complete and four out of fifteen teams in the Eastern Conference have more wins than losses. Five EC teams have a positive point differential. Six EC teams have a positing NetRtg...

Re: Most Improved 2014
This season Spencer Hawes is taking far fewer long and mid-range two point shots and far more threes. He has only attempted one corner three but is 18 for 36 on threes from middle and left side of the top of the key. The Hawes and MCW pick and rolls have been pretty entertaining and Hawes is a very ...

Kevin Love: .610 TS% ~ .542 eFG%
Compared to previous seasons: Fewer long twos, almost no corner threes, many more shots around the basket and by far the highest % (from around the basket) of his career.

Re: Early 2013-14 stat-based observations
Crow mentioned the Mavericks free agents. Let's look specifically at DeJuan Blair. He has registered the highest PER on the team (24.0 - also 13th highest in the league among qualified players), playing 20 minutes per game off the bench. Blair is 24 years old and playing for a new contract. He is be...

Re: Early 2013-14 stat-based observations
You'd almost have to pay me to watch the Bucks play, so I'll just throw some more numbers into the mix. The four worst teams in terms of shooting % from less than 5 feet are CHA TOR MIL and CLE. Among these teams, the Bucks have attempted the fewest (24th in the league) shots from less than five fee...

Asik and Howard have played together for a total of 60 minutes and their net rating is -3.4 ~ The Rockets net rating as a team through five games is 9.1 Thanks for that observation. I share interest in how well that works. Howard ~ Asik: 92.3 OffRtg 95.7 DefRtg 93.14 Pace Rockets: 111.1 OffRtg 102....

Re: Early 2013-14 stat-based observations
Gordon Hayward's higher assist rate during preseason has so far not been a fluke. 27.5 AST% in the regular season. Isaiah Thomas is playing out of his mind through 4 games: 65.8 TS% ~ 32.2 AST% ~ 7-15 from 3 ~ 30 mpg and 8 FTA ~ 27.8 USG Asik and Howard have played together for a total of 60 minutes...
