Misc. playoff notes

Post by Crow »

The two best teams on 3pt FG% in the playoffs by far were the finalists.

The 7 teams who had a playoff pace over 90 won a total of 2 of 15 series.

The Heat’s main playoff weak points were defensive rebounding and fouling. The Spurs were well below average in the reciprocal factors of offensive rebounding and getting to the line in the playoffs overall. An apparent bad match-up with this opponent. But other factors did more to actually hurt them in this series, especially own turnovers and 3 pt FG% allowed.

Pacers were by far the best performing team in playoffs on offensive rebounding and getting to the line. A great design- at least this far- for an expected toughest playoffs opponent. The Grizzlies were the next best on these 2 factors. If I were betting on the next title winner, I’d take the current probably overly long odds on the Pacers and maybe some on the Griz, over any other plays. Partly based on these factors but in general too.
