Thought I read Cheeks was the 9th coach fired
Got to think this is Dumars' last chance. He's been pretty miserable over a decent sample, but the league is very reluctant to fire GMs, largely.

I guess this firing came from ownership and represents a taking of power in that I think Cheeks was a contested but ultimately allowed pick.
I think it is 8 firings but maybe I missed an interim coach, though that may or may not deserve to count.

I think the average tenure of GMs is much longer but I forget how much longer. With the trend toward younger GMs I think the tenure may get shorter as the younger and more impatient owners go thru a good number of guys who don't immediately deliver or come to appear to have been advanced
