Ranked by xy = (eWins * eW/484), square root of

. Howard,Dwight 4.15 C 9.2 1.87
I found some 'alternate' positions at b-r.com
This way, best players make 1st team, 2nd, 3rd. Exceptions being Westbrook over Duncan, but barely; and Griffin to 2nd team.
After those 16-20 players, it drops off pretty quickly.

I'll piggy back with my regular season results: http://hoopsnerd.com/?p=454

To compare - using overall WAR - I'd have Durant/LeBron/Curry/Love/George 1st team, Harden/Carmelo/Griffin/Noah/Paul 2nd team, Jefferson/Lowry/Nowitzki/Davis/Dragic 3rd team. Aldridge was actually #15 (Dragic #16) - but too many bigs in that last 5.

Now, WAR is quite dependant on playing time to accumulate the wins. Looking at WAR/48 (missing games doesn't hurt) - it'd be more like Durant/LeBron/Paul/Curry/Love 1st team, Westbrook/Harden/Jefferson/George/Davis 2nd team, Griffin/Anthony/Noah/Aldridge/Lowry 3rd team (if you can't handle Anthony SG & Griffin SF - then Dragic for Aldridge.

There is no doubt Mike that your metric, compared to mine, most matches my HnR & HnI. Cousins was #6 in both for me - but only 18th in WAR/48 & 22nd in overall WAR. I think my WAR metric and how it relates to player performance, playing time, & team results (wins) sort of bridges box score metrics like my HnR/HnI, your eW, WS, PER, etc with RAPM - without having any +/- data.

I'll be pushing my WAR because I think the historical results will be better tied to winners (ie Bill Russell), and WAR will be MUCH easier to compile both regular season & playoffs, and will have nice, clean results.

Cousins looked elite on some boxscore metrics but he is still down at only 127th in league on real plus minus. His team's record may fit better with that evaluaton than that of the boxscore metrics.

Somehow I missed the announcements, and this thread was never updated. Here they are (C-F-F-G-G) :
1st team: Noah, LeBron, Durant, Harden, Paul
2nd team: Dwight, Love, Griffin, Curry, Parker
3rd team: Al Jefferson, Aldridge, George, Lillard, Dragic

Biggest snubs, by my OP rankings: Cousins, Carmelo, Dirk, A Davis, Westbrook

There were 2 players who missed the All-Star rosters (25 players) but made all-NBA (15 players) -- Al Jefferson and Goran Dragic.
The Western Conference placed 11 players on the 3 teams, so Dragic is not such a stretch: only A Davis and Dirk were Western All-Stars and not all-league --oh, and Kobe.
Even with Noah going to 1st Team, the East had only 4 reps on all-NBA. Jefferson leapfrogged 9 Eastern All-Stars to make 3rd team.
