Hey Guys,
I'm looking for a way to measure performance above/below a teams skill level. The reason is to try to quantify the "sum is greater than the parts" idea that I feel applies to the Spurs, and other probably other teams within a season. I don't want to use something like preseason rankings because that will take into consideration a team's chemistry and scheme. Does anyone have an idea on how to rank teams based on skill alone - not scheme, playcalling, etc. Just skill
Thanks

Did you ever come up with something? Posts that require thinking beyond the known obvious sometimes get passed over.
What about draft rank or draft rank as modified by salary as a skill proxy?
