Forcing Steph Curry left

Post by watto84 »

Hi Everyone,

My latest post looks at the advantage of forcing Steph Curry into left hand side of the basket layups.

Simple....basketball 101 stuff.....but it works and has interesting results comparing it to the league averages on layups.

I like seeing more ostensibly actionable stuff like that.

Of course, if your best game plan is to give up 61% shots, then you're not going win a whole lot of games.

Totally agree, 61% is still a crazy good clip. When dealing with Steph though, teams will take 61% on lefty layups vs 46% on 3's as crazy as that sounds as he's going to get his numbers no matter what.

You could see during the spurs game that the left hand drives he had that got blocked and sent him to the floor were momentum builders for the spurs and deflated the high confidence warriors a little for periods of time.

It's really just a 1%ER type strategy that might help in the long run as simple as it sounds.
