This commercial for Indiana University is a couple of years old or more, but has some (distant) relevance to basketball analytics and some amusement value.
A young freshman named Mark arrives on Indiana University's campus in 1979, throws himself into college classes and campus life, and turns out to be ... Mark Cuban.
Along the way he cajoles a professor into letting him take S520, a graduate level statistics class (the poster for "Breaking Away" on the bulletin board is a nice touch). The prof? None other than Wayne Winston.
If we believe the video, Mark thrived in the class and did a presentation to the class about ... sports statistics.
Until stumbling across this video, I was hadn't known how Cuban and Winston first met. It turns out to have been written about before, e.g. in this 2003 NY Times article. Things seem to have happened pretty much as depicted in the video, although it took "Jeopardy" and a chance encounter at a Mavs game for them to reunite.
