Improved players 2016-17
Re: Improved players 2016-17
I guess that is a quick way to get the info indirectly. Hadn't thought about that.
Re: Improved players 2016-17
See the link from rlee, above.
His Usage% is a modest 16.6, or just 83% of average. His teammates then avg 104% of normal.
Can't find a previous case of anyone winning TS% and Blk% for a season.
Mutombo led in TS% once, but it was after his great shot blocking years. Gilmore led 5 times, well past his defensive prime.
They expect Giannis A to win MIP. He is ...
Scottie Pippen 1995! -- not counting Jordan for 17 games.
There's no doubt who leads Milwaukee. After Giannis in total minutes: Snell, Brogdon
He has more FT than any other 3 Bucks combined.
Wow! Has this been done before? He also leads in defensive Win Shares....Gobert is leading the league in block percentage, and true shooting percentage...

Who else has done this? Kirilenko did not lead in Ast. Grant Hill did it all but the blocks (Theo Ratliff) in 3 straight years.... on track to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks per game.

Re: Improved players 2016-17
And yet Bucks only win 48% of his time on court according to 82games.com. Team shoots slightly worse with him on court vs. off and with a slightly lower assist rate. The positives with him on court are more free throws and less turnovers.
His top 4 lineups as of a few days were only winning 36-47% of the time. Would expect better. Probably need lineup management changes unless they are running a win with bench heavy lineups strategy. Hoopsstats.com has their bench as 2nd best on differential of NBA efficiency, fwiw. Top 2 lineups overall negative then 9 positive. Might be explicit strategy or just the way it turned out. But even then maybe they could do better than they are now. Will need to improve to actually matter in future. Currently 15th best against top 10.
At matchup level 82games has them winning big at forward spots and losing everywhere else. They have Giannis at both forward spots, fwiw. Plays well by raw team plus minus with Monroe & Brogdon and most of bench. Mild weaknesses with Dellavedova and Parker.

Re: Improved players 2016-17
Team with Giannis on court was -24 tonight. Second worst mark of season for this piece of team / player data.
Re: Improved players 2016-17
RPM says Giannis is #19 in the league and 5th best at SF.
Re: Improved players 2016-17
RPM also has him as 15th best #1 player on team. Bucks coincidentally 15th on SRS. Average top star, average build around him. Sounds about right, for now. Maybe they should have been better than that, but they weren't due to injuries, youth, coaching (of defense?).
19th best RPM estimate. Only one or two guys ahead of him who imo he might be outperforming, all things considered, not just box score. Does anyone think he should be rated 10th or 5th best? I guess some of the box score only metrics do. 5th best SF? Sounds about right to me.
His top minutes lineup is only 22nd best among lineups over 250 minutes. Can't do it alone. But Jabari is not the main answer. Player pair was negative and worse than last season. 2nd worst pairing for him.

Re: Improved players 2016-17
Not surprised by A Davis' performance but I barely heard or thought about him this season. Belenelli improved? Ok, but still below average. Pop saying "he's special"? Maybe to you but not "good" overall to me. Missed the Myles Turner surge. Didn't pay attention to Pacers, besides urging a P George trade.
