Quantifying Player Development In The NBA
Has anyone conducted a study on the effectiveness of different NBA organizations, when it comes to development of talent? For the purpose of this study, I would suggest using only 2nd round picks and un-drafted players (Could make sense to expand group to include non lottery picks as well). Would be happy to discuss further.

Pre-NBA to first year in NBA, year to year in NBA or both? Boxscore or RPM? At total impact level or by stat?

Why do you suggest only looking at later picks?

Start with players drafted or first entering the league in the 2009-10 season . That would give us 10 seasons worth of data. Obviously tough with the turnover in front offices and coaching staffs, but would be able to see trends. Total impact level.

Your right, shouldn't just look at "non lottery picks". We should then add a value to certain draft slots of a given player. It is more impressive to develop a #40 draft pick into a high level player, then a #4 draft pick.
