2019-2020 season commentary
Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Imo the Celtics should be open to trading anyone on roster and I'd be actively seeking to trade for different. A lot of different.
Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Raptors could trade lots of guys if the team is meh at mid-season. Had to wait for Kawhi but have done little since. Really need a better SF.
Would they go for Galinari? Who else? I assume not Wiggins.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Cavs still look like a mess. I don't see anything good happening any time soon. Need many many changes.
Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Heat probably shouldn't be after C Paul.
I'd be talking to Raptors re Lowry (and others).

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Will Knicks win 30? If not, it may be hello Ty Lue.
Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
If you are the Warriors and if you care about playoff seed (probably don't that much), then u should find out early whether your lineup rotation should max Curry Russell Green Looney on floor or max 3 of 4 on floor.
Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Next chapter in Knicks / Spurs feud? Knicks shadow D Murray. I'd think he'd be a target for a massive offer sheet in 2021. Spurs probably try to extend next summer to avoid that. Will they succeed?
Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Will T Duncan officially coaching help keep Aldridge happy and productive or make him want to move on more?
Is there a designated lead assistant on Spurs? May not be, at least yet. But if there is or will be, it would be interesting to know.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Who survives the likely coming Hornets meltdown? Bridges, Bacon, Washington, maybe Zeller. I guess Rozier.
Does that become the starting lineup at some point? Why not? MKG off the bench was the norm last season and I don't see why they'll go back to a bigger role at this point. I'd guess they will be out of the playoff hunt pretty quick.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Depth charts are not cleaned up and definitive yet, but Rotoworld will have the Rockets with 10 guards when McLemore is added. Nobody else has more than 8 listed. Position assignments are off in some cases. But fwiw. Hornets, Nuggets, Clips, Heat and Blazers only have 5.
Lakers have 8 listed big men (PF & C). A handful or a bit more have 7. Mavs, Rockets and subs just have 4. A handful have 5.
If you count forwards. Nets, Lakers and Jazz have 8. Maybe Thunder. A handful with 7. Rockets just 4. A handful with 5.
Some of these imbalances relative to the norm may get corrected by opening day. Some may persist. Directly because of design or not.

Anthony Bennett getting another shot at NBA.
3 pt shot is a surprise to me but he did it well for 2 years in G league.
His stats in NBA for 2016-17 were ok but they had been but expectations were higher.
If his defense is decent he might stick with Rockets.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Extending J Murray at the max was an expected, typical move. I don't see it helping move the Nuggets up further. I do not consider him an adequate #2 on a title contender. Unless he improves a lot he is a barely adequate #3 at best. Last season was clearly his least Moreyball season and not impressive in that regard.
His contract may or may not have much trade value in 2 years. I dunno if they will try. But I expect it likely to deserve consideration by then. After making a questionable move to extend early at such a price.
Nuggets barely got out of first round and Murray was pretty weak in that series. Didnt beat the Blazers. Murray was better but not special or enough. Are they going to GET to conference finals next time? A modest chance but I'd say no. Do they EXPECT to? I dunno. That would seem pretty optimistic.

Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Blazers did not resign Aminu. I dunno their thinking or his. He had a poor shooting playoffs but that doesn't seem sufficient reason to let go a plus 2 RPM, moderate price role player. Age may have been a factor. Paying Whiteside, Bazemore and giving Lilliard more may have been a factor. Liking Zach was a factor. Changing design may be a factor. But let's see how it goes.
Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Warriors really weak at SF. I assume they will find some upgrade one way or another before playoffs.
Re: Early 2019-2020 season commentary
Clippers frontcourt does not look like championship caliber. Probably hoping to make changes later.
Upshifting George or Leonard to PF in playoffs seems likely but not enough on its own.
