Euroleague expansion process begun, with decisions perhaps by fall.
Emphasis in announcement on London,, Berlin and Rome.
European and global league possibilities
Re: European and global league possibilities
Project B Men hires Landry Fields to head that proposed effort.
Start date not mentioned.
Women's tour still only has 2 long away dates and shows little signs of actually moving forward on any details. Teams, coaches, other necessary players, marketing, ticket sales, media deal, etc.
Have they actually received all the announced or needed investments? Have they actuaĺy signed binding player contracts, paid any part of them?
Why hasn't more been done by now? Like the tipoff date and city? Fall 2026 has been abandoned. January 2027 is mentioned as a start date but without a firm date or city.

Re: European and global league possibilities
The Projext B website is barely a website. They want your e-mail. They do not display any dates or any players or anything beyond the concept.
Re: European and global league possibilities
"...at least three of its current franchises -- Real Madrid, Asvel and Fenerbahçe -- are believed to have made bids to join NBA Europe."
Until accepted and finalized, such bids are not a sure thing.
If it is 3, the Euroleague can survive those defections. If it is 3 actual followed by more, it will hurt more, but they still survive, at least in short term.
Euroleague collapse would require abandonment by media partners and non-replacement and major defection of fan bases. Probably does not happen quickly.

Karnisovas to advise Silver on determining details of NBA Europe operation.
When will NBA Europe be officially established? Could be authorized tomorrow but authorized and official established are differsoon?
Pau Gasol has supported the project while also supporting Barcelona. Will he get an official role and how soon? They could have announced that to greater fanfair if they agreed / wanted to but they haven't.

Re: European and global league possibilities
NBA says they will approve bids in fall.
But when will franchise fees actually be paid? Before media arrangements? All at once?
When will media deal be actively considerd, negotiated, finalized and paid? Or will it start just as self-directed streaming?

Re: European and global league possibilities
Are the stated intentions of NBA to inject / return money to franchises to cover expected losses in first decade contractually specified or just intention? I assume it is just stated intention unless shown otherwise.
Re: European and global league possibilities
Silver and Tatum to meet some bidders in coming days. Presumably soccer clubs.
First announcements perhaps "in a few weeks"? Like 4-6? Or 10+?
Rumored next meeting with EuroLeague for this week is not publicly announced and would be attended by lower level NBA staff if it happens.
Difference, probably means something. That discussions with EuroLeague are going nowhere fast and probably nowhere.

Re: European and global league possibilities
Both sides are relatively calm. But if it is to be competition, it could heat up in various ways. Simultaneous scheduling, lease lockouts, social media campaigns, player poaching, etc.
Re: European and global league possibilities
Adam Silver:
"We are not at the point of binding bids yet; I would call them initial expressions of interest, and we are complete with financial information. However, everyone needs to know that once those initial bids came in, there will be ongoing discussions before we reach the point where we are going to bind agreements. We are not at that point yet."

2nd round of bids described widely as binding bids. But apparently were not. So "bids received from Euroleague teams", could letters of interest or conditional interest. And bids of $500 million to $1 billion are not binding bids.
Was the bid process misrepresented (by NBA and / or media) or responded to in a non-binding fashion? Expected or not expected? Are both true? Very significant. At least one appears to a necessary explanation beyond the PR case that things are proceeding as expected / desired.
Two rounds of non-binding bids? Who does that??? Besides the NBA, here? Maybe it is done somewhere in corporate landscape. But it seems odd and not worth much.
I am not expecting anything meaningful before mid-September. Maybe October. Can they push the start of announcements to November? What do they need & when to proceed with media arrangements, leases, organizational construction / staffing, etc.?
Sign player in July 2027 or May / June? Sell tickets in August or before? Set up media distribution in what month? Leases by June or January?
Official franchise transactions by January, before or after?
Official NBA Board of Governor approvals by ...?
Every delay matters. The amount of slack continuously decreases.
