Change in Spurs' defense

Compared to the 2006-7 title crew, last year's squad was much worse on efG% allowed and TO% forced. The Spurs did however recover their elite defensive rebounding from one down year in 2010-11 and maintain very low fouls committed. But did they achieve these Factor performances at the expense of focus / slippage on the others? Did they change their behavior in regular season blowouts (for or against)? Has anyone seen or done a good study of their defensive change over time? Link?
