Re: Flip Saunders' teams and 3ptas
For simplicity, call restricted area and 3-point FGA "good" shots. Call the rest "bad" shots. I looked at the ratio of bad to good for teams in the last 19 seasons. Flip's teams accounted for the top 3 and 5 of the top 7. Every 2014 team and 29 2015 teams shot more good than bad. Flip's 2015 TWolves did not. In fact, Flip coached at least 50 games in 15 of the 19 seasons in the study, and none of those teams shot more good than bad.

Re: Flip Saunders' teams and 3ptas
Good check of the broader good / bad shot issue.
I added to the tweet stream. Mine. I guess
not Flip's unless he responds.
This level of evaluation doesn't address contestedness. I briefly looked at efg% to address it indirectly. More could be done.

Re: Flip Saunders' teams and 3ptas
Feels almost like piling on, but I've looked at a ton of stuff with respect to Flip (and Wittman, who runs a very similar system) coached team, and their what might be called "MoreyBall" percentages have always been quite low relative to the rest of the league.
