I'm happy to announce once again that as usual the basketball stats community is welcome to join us Thursday night before Sloan at the Fours (#1 sports bar in the country according to SI!). They will have space for us in the usual upstairs room - there is a Bruins game at the Garden that night so probably there'll be a little traffic downstairs post-game but the upstairs should be mostly open for us.
In an unfortunate twist, however, this year's Sloan conference is the week of NCAA conference tournaments, so I'm actually not going to be able to be there myself Thursday night! But others will be there as usual, starting about 9:30. As always, I strongly recommend the Buffalo Chicken Nachos. I'm told that next year's conference will not conflict with conf tourneys so hopefully this is a one-year issue.
As for the usual Sunday geeks' pickup game, we're all set to go from 10 to 1ish at Harvard Business School like we were last year. Your name will need to be on a list to get in; I'll have more details a couple days before the conference.
It's been amazing to watch this community grow so much from the 10-ish people we had at the Fours the first year! So please do stop by if you're in town.
See you in a couple weeks!

Re: APBeerMetrics & Sunday Basketball
I didn't get tickets for Sloan, but I don't live very far from Boston and have been mulling coming into the city to meet up with some of you fine folks. So, get at me through whatever channel is most convenient if that sounds appealing at all.
Re: APBeerMetrics & Sunday Basketball
Ill be there Thursday, and would like to shoot my team out of wins on Sunday as well, if possible.
Thanks for setting everything up.

Re: APBeerMetrics & Sunday Basketball
I'll be arriving Friday night and will be staying through Sunday late afternoon to evening. If there's room for me, I'll be happy to pester people on defense and set picks while otherwise remaining out of the way on offense.
Re: APBeerMetrics & Sunday Basketball
You guys are lucky I'm not coming - I'd Bill Laimbeer all your asses (alternating between hitting threes and dropping elbows).
But, I'd at least smile and help you up when I was done. I'm not a complete jerk.

PM me if you want to play on Sunday & I'll get your name added to the list, and will also reply with details of where/when.

Re: APBeerMetrics & Sunday Basketball
Anybody want to highlight any comments from the basketball analytics panel, the coaching panel or the research paper presentations? From the media coverage I haven't heard anything interesting.
Any pickup game stars or noteworthy matchups?
