The OKC Thunder are hiring for Software Engineer - Analytics Information Systems.

We’re looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented engineer to design, implement, and maintain a scalable analytics pipeline and application to support basketball operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain analytics information systems
  Work with internal and external data sources
  Collaborate on research and product opportunities with internal departments
  Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

• BS or MS in computer science or related field
  Experience in implementing data ingestion, ETL, and analysis
  SQL database experience, including schema design, query tuning, etc.
  Python development using ORMs such as SQLAlchemy
  Python development using frameworks such as Flask, Django, and Pyramid
  Experience with AWS technologies such as S3, RDS, and EC2
  Experience with Elasticsearch
  Demonstrated high standards of confidentiality
  Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
  Must be able to work long hours on short notice including weekends and nights
  Position requires full-time residence in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

I have an information strategy to offer called reading RPM estimates. Prior to the Thunder's 2014-15 acquisitions they were all estimated badly negative on overall impact; and after acquisition (late season and this season) they are all still estimated badly negative. This estimate is generally supported by box score stats and the eye test too. Only Kanter is debatable imo. Foye is a repeat of this theme. I'd be happy to provide this analytic service to the organization. Or perhaps just give it further consideration. As impressive as the list of skills you seek is, it is less so when so many decisions fly in the face of a lot of what I consider credible public information.
