DMC to NOLA

Post by Mike G »

DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis may be the two best Bigs in the world; and they're on the same team.
If they aren't 1-2, they are inarguably the best pair of bigs on one team.
See the operational definition of 'bigs' and the list here:

These are their production totals... playing for different teams. Will be interesting to see how much they change, decline playing together sharing ball on offense and rebound opportunities.

Free throw duos:

Code: Select all

FT team 2 bigs
790 NOP Cousins Davis
373 Atl Millsap Howard
334 Mem Gasol Green
332 Min Towns Dieng
330 LAC Griffin Jordan
Yes, something will have to give.

In their first year together, Duncan and Robinson with very little else had a .646 level MOV.
The Pels have 25 games left; if they play at that rate, they'd end up with ~39 wins -- which would be 8th in the West, if b-r.com's projections play out.
The 1997-98 Spurs actually started out 10-10, then went 46-16 the rest of the way.

For future reference, here's a snapshot of some 'advanced' numbers before they were on the same team.

Code: Select all

NOP PER ORb% DRb% TRb% Ast% Stl Blk% TO% Usg ws/48 BPM
DMC 26.6 7.1 29.1 18.1 28.0 2.0 3.6 13.2 37.5 .163 7.1
AD 27.3 6.5 28.3 17.3 11.7 1.7 5.5 9.9 32.5 .188 3.7
Certainly their Usage will drop. Their BPM may get closer.

Their RPM (at ESPN -- both listed as PF) are 5th and 6th, Cousins at 4.65 and Davis at 4.11.
In WINS, they're 3rd and 4th.
