Re: Heat win total in 2014-15
Seems like they can contend for a nice playoff spot in the East. Have some excitement. Re-solidify Bosh's hall of fame credentials if he returns to being a 20 point scorer. Then in 2016, when the salary cap increases by $20 million or so, they will have room to sign a max free agent, maybe two depen...

Re: Help calculating the break-even point for 3 pt shooting
Math above is correct. FT attempts is a potential downside. Potential upside is that some folks think offensive rebounds are easier to get off of missed 3Pt shots. Alternatively, if you don't want to crash the boards, the simple time it takes for a 3PT shot to get to the rim gives your team plenty o...

Re: Should defenses let long 2s go uncontested?
Truly uncontested shots would go in at a far higher rate than +12% is my guess. Also it depends on who you are leaving open. And the suggested players above are not the only ones you have to worry about. Garnett and Dirk are able to shoot that shot in a game and be great at it mainly because of thei...

Re: Nets' new starters
AK gives them a great glue guy that doesn't need the ball or to be the focus of plays to contribute. Also he helps on the defensive side quite a bit. A team with Garnett and AK on the floor should be good at defense. Also a healthy (post All Star Break) DWill will be improved as well. And while Pier...

Re: The George Karl factor
Initial premiss is wrong. His rosters have been good and they have consistent home court advantage due to Denver altitude. That plays much more of a factor in regular season than in playoffs. I suspect based on the W-L record going into the playoffs, he will have the worst record of any coach who ha...

Re: Nets' new starters
Nets Bench If the rumors are true that the Nets are going to sign Kyle Korver, then their bench is going to be very good. A squad that features last year's new and improved A. Blatche, the unparalleled rebounding of Reggie Evans, and the elite three point shooting of Kyle Korver would be a solid squ...

Re: Nets' new starters
Setting aside the Kidd coach thing which I consider both a wild card and frankly a non-issue since he will do very little that is at odds with either Lawrence Frank or the various HoFers and All Stars on this team, I'm quite optimistic. This should work out much better than the Lakers since the Nets...
